27th Kiwanis Treasure Hunt 2010

The 27th Kiwanis Treasure Hunt 2010 is now being planned and organised by Kiwanis Club of Kuala Lumpur. The destination shall be Lake Kenyir Resort & Spa via Kuantan and will take place from 12 -14 June 2010. The Kiwanis Treasure Hunt is the major fund raising project and the target to raise this year is RM300,000.00 that will largely go towards supporting the Kiwanis Down Syndrome Foundation - National Centre, KCKL's Community Service projects and three other beneficiaries.
Key Club Methodist Girls' School Charter/Installation Event

Kiwanis Club of Kuala Lumpur sponsored yet another Key Club ; Key Club of Methodist Girls' School (MGS) in 2009. This is another huge milestone for KCKL as Key Club MGS is the first Key Club in a government supported school.
26th Kiwanis Treasure Hunt 2009-Report

In the year when the region is struck by the economic crisis, running KCKL's major fund raiser, the 26th Kiwanis Treasure Hunt proved to be an uphill task. So, when the accounts were closed and the final figure raised was revealed, the committee heaved a sigh of relief. A BIG thank you to all our sponsors for being loyal and supportive.
Distinguished President Award 2009

Kiwanis Club of Kuala Lumpur held its Installation of New Board of Directors event on 31 October 2009 at Carcosa Seri Negara. In conjunction with this event, the Club, represented by the Past Presidents' Advisory Council awarded President KH Wan (term 08-09) the Distinguished President Award.
Hixson Award 2009-KCKL

The Hixson Award 2009 was presented to Kwn Chen Thiam Leong, a long time member of Kiwanis Club of Kuala Lumpur. Kwn Chen, known for his non-compromising quality of service when it comes to altruism, charity and volunteerism, is indeed a well deserving recipient for this prestigious Award.
Myanmar Children's School Visit

KCKL sponsors lunch for the children at the Myanmar Children's School in Puchong Utama. On 20 Nov 2009, members of KCKL led by Project Chairman, Kwn Sunny Lee paid a visit to the school and joined the children and staff for a Myanmarian lunch.
Energy Bars Contribution

As of always, every end of the year, comes a good Samaritan with a good deed. This year 2009, he comes in the form of Caremark Sdn Bhd. Their kind contribution put some smiles onto faces of the under-privileged children in some Homes in Klang Valley.

2008 George F. Hixson Fellowhsip for Kwn Lee Kuan Yong

At the 33rd KCKL Installation Dinner on 27th Sept 2008, Kwn Lee Kuan Yong was honoured to be only the fifth recipient of the George F. Hixson Fellowship by KCKL. Kuan Yong has been a member of KCKL since 1993 and for the past 15 years, he has held many positions including being the first Govenor of Kiwanis Malaysia District. We salute you, Kuan Yong, you're an inspiration to many.
Tablet of Honour for Tony Leow

Past President Kwn Tony Leow was awarded with the highest Kiwanis International Foundation award, the Tablet of Honour by visiting Kiwanis International President-Elect Don Canaday on 2 April at his home in Kelana Jaya.
33rd Kiwanis Club of Kuala Lumpur Board of Directors 2008

In a simple but fun installation dinner on 27 Sept 2008 held in Kelab Rahman Putra, the 33rd Board of Directors of KCKL was humbly installed by Kiwanis International Trustee, Kwn Hwang Chia Sing. The installation dinner was attended by 80 members and friends of Kiwanis. Here are the members of your new Board of Directors for 2008-09.

KCKL March 09 Dinner - Report

KCKL went AQUACULTURE in our March dinner gathering on 17th March at the KLPAC Japanese Koi Centre, Sentul. There was also a guided tour of the Koi Centre followed by a Japanese buffet dinner. The speaker for the evening was Mr Gopinath Nagaraj, a reknown specialist in aquaculture in Malaysia who spoke on "Aquaculture Achievements in Malaysia". We had a higher turnout than expected with 58 adults. Here are some photos of the evening.
KCKL Feb 09 Dinner Gathering - Pictorial

KCKL February Dinner Fellowship Gathering brought us to Palate Palette, a nice cosy Bar and Restaurant along Jalan Mesui, off Jalan Nagasari, off Jalan Raja Chulan, tucked away in a little corner of Kuala Lumpur. Our speaker was Ms Elizabeth Khiang who spoke on Emotional Freedom Techniques. She got us tapping our temple, around the eye, above the lips and many more places. Here are some pictures of the event.
KCKL October 08 Dinner Meeting - Report

The turn out for the first dinner meeting of the new BOD of KCKL, the October 2008 Dinner Meeting was fantastic!!! 60 pax were counted, 27 KCKL members and 33 guests. The venue was at Cope Adventure, Look Out Point Ampang and the food.... was fabulous!! Here are some pictures of the October Dinner Meeting.

The 33rd KCKL Installation Dinner ushered in the new Board of Directors for Kiwanis Club of Kuala Lumpur. Maintaining the tradition and record, the Presidency of KCKL has been held by a different Kiwanian for each and every term of office over the past 32 years. This year, Kwn K H Wan was installed as the President for the 2008-2009 term together with his Board of Directors in a simple but fun event on 27 Sept 2008 in Kelab Rahman Putra.

On 20 April 2009, the Conference Room at the Kiwanis Down Syndrome Foundation-National Centre was abuzz with chatters amongst young people, KCKL members and friends and even visiting members from the all-ladies Kiwanis Club of Bukit Bandaraya. Visit to the Zoo 2008

It's time again for the small clawed otters to meet us !!!
KCKL is organising this year's visit to the Zoo to sponsor them on 28 June 2008 (Saturday) (NEW DATE). We are inviting some special children for this visit and they would like to share their day of joy with some Kiwanians and friends. Come join us.....
 
Report : KDSF Food & Funfair ROARING 20

It was indeed a  ROARING 20 celebration when the crowd came roaring in by 11am to the Kiwanis Food & Funfair at the National Centre in SS3, leaving those manning the stalls no time to settle down soon after setting up! The total amount raised was RM75k .A big pat on the shoulder for the organisers comprising of the KDSF Staff, members of the Parents Support Group and Kiwanis Club of KL.
Hospis Malaysia Charity Bazaar

KCKL pledged 300 McMom's Hotdogs for the Hospis Bazaar on 26 April 09 in Cheras. There were lots of food stalls. Competition was great. The crowd was spoiled for choices. At the turn of events, another needy party benefitted from the KCKL's contribution!
McMom's At Earth Hour

Again ,KCKL saw McMom's in action for I-City's Earth Hour public awareness program. This was a full family affair headed by the ever-bubbly Lily Chong, also assisted by Kwn Lim Boon Kim and his wife. I-City Berhad organised a "food fair" in Shah Alam from 5-10pm to celebrate and educate the public on the Earth Hour. It was lights off from 8.30-9.30pm! Read about Lily's great fun and experience.
United Voice Food & Funfair 2009

United Voice, a self-advocacy society led by persons with learning diabilities held a Charity Food and Funfair on the 14 March 2009 to raise funds to purchase a building of their own. KCKL was invited to be part of the fun and set up McMom's Hotdog and Burger stall and four other game stalls. 45 Kiwanis youths from our sponsored clubs and youth camps answered the call to be volunteers for a good cause. 2008 World Down Syndrome Day

The date 21st day of the 3rd month, March was chosen to signify the uniqueness of the syndrome as the Trisomy 21 chromosome is used synonymously with Down Syndrome. This year, KDSF-NC will mark this day together with Damansara Specialist Hospital.
Kiwanis Food & Funfair 2008 Pictorial Report

KDSF-NC once again organised a very successful Food & Funfair at the National Centre on October 19, 2008. 11th Kiwanis Youth Camp 2008 - Report

The 11th Kiwanis Youth Camp 2008 was successfully concluded on 16th December 2008. The 48 participants had their fill of excitement, extreme adventure and challenges.
